The Report of the Riyadh visit to the Program Branch

Within the framework of controlling the teaching process development and designating the hardships that impede the implementation of the Program, The Program Scientific Committee carried out an inspective visit to the program branch in Riyadh on Tuesday, 01/04/1436 AH. His Excellency, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Chairman of the Program Scientific Committee Dr. Yousef bin Mohammed Al-mihwis, started the meeting referring to the visit objective manifested in the follow up of the teaching process development and the field-designation of the hardships facing the implementation of the program to come up with solutions in association with the relevant authorities. This was followed by the intervention of Mr. Ahmed Fadlallah from the Prince Salman Institute, the program execution party during which he talked about the problems facing the implementation of the program. These problems can be summarized as follows: 1. the students’ repeated questions about the mechanism with which courses equivalencies had been made. 2. The late arrival of the equivalencies to the branch. After that, the Program Scientific Committee held an open meeting with the students admitted in the program. Professor Ahmed Fadlallah welcomed the Scientific Committee Chairman and members and explained the visit objective. Then, His Excellency the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Chairman of the Scientific Committee Dr. Youssef bin Mohammed Al-mihwis addressed the students and talked about the program objectives and encouraged the students to work hard, especially that the Program is considered as one of the distinctive programs and a large number of the technical diploma holders are joining it. His Excellency also recalled the different stages and procedures which the program had undergone since it was a mere concept until it has become a concrete project. He also expressed his gratitude to the Rector Dr. Khaled bin Saad Al-moqrin, and the College deanships and organizations, particularly the Community Service which, together with the Program management, contributed to the success of the program. He also thanked the Admission and Registration Deanship, and praised the endeavors of the College of Sciences and Humanities of Houtat Sudair represented by its dean Dr. Tariq Ben Suleiman Albahlal and delivered his Excellency the Dean’s greetings to the students. Dr. Rafi Alrweidan, a member of the Scientific Committee, intervened and talked about the mechanism used in the conduct of equivalencies such as: 1. the number of hours of the BA courses taken by the student must equal their counterparts of the Program’s suggested courses. 2. The content of the BA courses must be equivalent to 70% of the content of the Program’s suggested courses. After that, the Program Executive Supervisor Dr. Jafar Osman Sharif intervened and stressed the need for cooperation between all the Program’s concerned parties to boost the educational process. He also referred to the vital role of The Scientific Committee in achieving the program goals and objectives and the need for collaboration between the Scientific Committee and the Program Execution branch; "Prince Salman Institute" to ensure the quality of the Program Graduates. Afterwards, the students asked the Scientific Committee members a number of questions and inquiries such as: 1. How to make the equivalencies. 2. No equivalencies for some BA courses even if the student had passed them. 3. Acknowledging the obtained diploma by the state institutions. 4. Providing the Program graduate with the opportunity to finish graduate studies. 5. The possibility of launching a summer term program to shorten the study period. Members of the Program Scientific Committee clearly and transparently answered the students’ questions and inquiries. At the end, the Scientific Committee Chairman thanked the Program executing party; The Prince Salman Institute for Advisory Studies and Services. He also thanked the students for their attendance and their interesting questions which had enriched the meeting. The visit had a good and positive impact on the students and each one of them received a copy from the study plan.
