“Defining the Excellence Unit” Seminar

As part of the College role of considering the Faculty members’ needs to enhance the educational process efficiency, the head of the Excellence Unit Dr. Mohamed Al-jali Suleiman, has presented a general definition of the unit, explaining that that the unit is interested in supporting the Faculty members and providing a motivating academic environment that encourages excellence and innovation in teaching and learning, besides providing a continuous quality improvement system that guarantees the teaching effectiveness and the quality of the academic graduates. The Unit general objectives were presented, and they included: 1. Recruiting outstanding Faculty members and working on constantly improving their performance. 2. Developing the teaching and learning strategies to improve the targeted graduates’ level. 3. Developing the educational programs following the Quality and the Academic Accreditation standards requirements. The Unit Head also highlighted the unit functions which include: 1. setting mechanisms that would enhance the university teachers’ efficiency and improve their performance (Workshops - Training Courses - seminars). 2. “Professional” Self-development support of the Faculty member. 3. Contributing to the development of teaching methods (more focus on E-learning). 4. Following and managing with the various Colleges’ Quality units in order to satisfy the requirements of the teaching and learning standard. 5. Setting mechanisms that would develop and improve the teaching and learning requirements and equipments; such as libraries, laboratories, and classrooms. After that, the operational plan for the year 1435/1436 AH was displayed, and the determining criteria for choosing the College Best Faculty Member were set.
