The student’ Academic guide

The academic counseling unit has been established to academically supervise the students, observe and guide them and ultimately make reports and recommendations to the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs. The Committee members: - Mrs. Reem Al-Rashidi (president), Professor Rahma Abdelkader (member), Dr. Ihsan Abdel-Kader (member), Ms. Ahlem Ibdah (member) - Ms. Ghada Dafaa Allah (member) - Ms. Arwa Al-Moufez (member) - Ms. Dora Al-balihi (member). E-mail unity r.alrasheedi @ mu.edu.sa Vision: To make the department unit of academic counseling a distinctive and leading unit in providing counseling services for students and to administer and develop it. Message: To provide comprehensive counseling services to the department students in order to help them with their education and teach them how to deal with themselves and the society. Objectives: 1. To provide different kinds of services to the department students. 2. To plan for the counseling programs, follow their implementation and present them. 3. To train and prepare the personnel to present counseling services. Tasks carried out by the unit: 1 – Supervising the counseling process at the department (Planning - Management - support - calendar). 2 – Providing some counseling services like the psychological, social, enlightening and preventive counseling (Implementation - Coordination). 3 –carrying out the general programs related to counseling (Lectures - Workshops - training and so on). * Areas of counseling: first, Academic Advising: It is the basic guiding objective and it intends to help the student achieve the purpose of going to college following the easiest methods and this could be through helping her adjust to the academic system and removing the obstacles that might hinder or slow down the process of achieving her goal provided that these obstacles are academic ones and solving them is within the reach of the college. Second, Social Guidance: It aims to help the student deal with her society In terms of its values, behaviors, and diversity; help her adjust to it, in addition to strengthening the student’s role in contributing to community service and development. Third: preventive and enlightening guidance: It aims to anticipate problems before they occur by raising awareness about the importance of the moral values and solving the student’s problems resulting from the lack of compatibility between the noble Islamic values in which the student believes on one hand, and her desires at this age and reality on the other hand. Therefore, filling the student’s heart with faith following the proper methods will contribute to solving many of the problems which the student may encounter and which could hamper her academic or even psychological and social progress, it also could help her cope well with herself and her surroundings, and successfully fulfill her school tasks. Fourth: Job Counseling: The objective of job counseling is to prepare the student for future careers and jobs starting from choosing the suitable specialty through precise scientific measurement, after studying the labor market to know about its needed skills and teaching the student these skills in addition to helping them with the job searching tools such as writing a CV, personal interviewing skills and work ethics, etc…
