Academic Counseling Unit

Vision:

the Unit works on the development of counseling services to meet the needs of the College students and to make these services available to them so as to develop their personalities and skills in different areas. Besides, the Unit consistently seeks to enhance these counseling services in conformity with the global standards at the institutions of higher education.

Mission:

The Unit aims at providing a variety of counseling services for the students in order to fulfill their academic needs and develop their skills in dealing with various difficulties, which may negatively influence their academic performance. The Unit is interested in strengthening cooperation with colleges so as to provide premium quality services that support the educational process.

Goals:

the Unit aims to fulfill the aspirations of the college through helping its students understand their academic problems and search for appropriate treatment to them. This will produce a generation with Faith, knowledge, self-confidence as well as ability to participate in the development of this state. These goals can be specified by the following objectives:

1- Creating the necessary conditions for students’ growth including the establishment of positive social relationships with fellow students, faculty and staff in addition to solving academic problems at the University.

2- Preparing new students to University life through advising programs and guidelines for the College Deanery, support divisions and access to student services through coordination with relevant departments at the College. Also, the unit aims at introducing students to the changes they may encounter during their university life and how they can deal with them appropriately through its programs of opening week, workshops and training courses.

3- Raising student’s awareness of academic difficulties, study skills, study plans and timetables, and equipping them with skills that can increase their academic competence and achieve their self-harmony.

4- Helping students choose their suitable majors according to their potentials, scientific interests and the needs of the labor market.

5- Encouraging highly competent students to excel and guiding them towards using their potentials in areas that match their preferences and interests.

6- Helping students of low-academic performance acquire better study skills.
