A Workshop entitled “Standardized Tests” held at the College of Engineering

Under the patronage of the Dean of College of Engineering, Dr. Saleh Al-Dhash, a workshop entitled “Standardized Tests” was organized on Tuesday by the Measurement and Assessment Unit in the presence of the Vice-Dean for Quality and Development, Dr. Abdullah Al-Muheisen. Many faculty members from different colleges, deanship and academic departments attended the workshop, including College of Science in Zulfi, College of Computer, College of Education, College of Business Administration, Deanship of IT and Departments of Physics and Mathematics. The Vice-Dean for Quality and Development, Dr. Abdullah Al-Muheisen launched the workshop by pointing out that it is important for tests criteria to match the quality and academic accreditation criteria, an act that will have a positive impact on the quality of tests. The Head of Measurement and Assessment, Dr. Sameh Ahmed, addressed several topics pertinent to standardized tests that comply with the requirements of quality and academic accreditation. Dr. Ahmed presented the college of engineering experience in standardized tests based on quality and accreditation standards and how obviously that had improved the procedures of tests which are expected to meet the criteria of quality and academic accreditation. A detailed explanation of the tests different types was provided by Dr. Ahmed who explicated the number and strategies of preparing questions as well as how to link them with the outcomes of the course. The different ways of analyzing test result to be used for improvement plan as well as identifying strength and weakness aspects in study programs were also highlighted by Dr. Ahmed. Faculty members engaged actively in the workshop with their insightful feedback such as how to motivate students to attend tests and the possibility of having requirements for taking standardized tests before a student is allowed to register for a graduation project. Thanks and appreciations were extended by faculty members to the college of engineering for the very useful workshop.
