The College of Engineering held an orientation day

The College of Engineering held an orientation day for freshmen on Tuesday 1/1/1440. Patronized by the Dean of the College, Dr. Abdullah Al-Abdelkareem, the ceremony was attended by vice-deans, heads of departments, teaching staff and students. Dr. Saleh Al-Dahsh, vice-dean for educational affairs, encouraged students to benefit from the information provided by the college this day. On how to select the suitable major, students were advised to consider the scientific criteria to choose their major and to take into account their interest as well. “There are plenty of job opportunities in market for all the majors of engineering” added Dr. Al-Dahsh. Dr. Abdullah Al-Muheisen, vice-dean for quality and development, said that the choice of a particular major should not be made unless a student has carried out an exhaustive and comprehensive search process that is based on scientific basis. Students were also guided to make use of the available resources including books and specialized websites in engineering field in making up their mind. Students were asked to attend the talk given by representatives of departments to be briefed about the majors and their potential job opportunities in future. Dr. Tariq Nabeel, head of student activities committee, presented a detail account of the extra-curricular activities provided by the College and their invaluable positive impacts on students. A Q&A session was finally conducted by the vice-deans to respond to the questions asked by the students.
