A WORKSHOP ON "ABET CRITERIA AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Under the support of Training and Development Unit, The Deanship of Quality and Skills Development in the College of Engineering organized a workshop entitled "ABET Criteria and Additional Requirements" on 18\7\1437 AH. The workshop was oriented to the faculty members in order to introduce the requirements of the international academic accreditation ABET, and their role in enhancing the academic programs, measuring the learning outcomes and offering the academic counselling. At the beginning, The Vice-Dean for the Quality and Development, Dr. Abdullah Almuhaisen, gave a speech on the importance behind that series of workshops held throughout the academic year, and the participation of faculty members. He continued talking about the positive effect of these workshops and lectures on developing the learning process and outcomes. Dr. Abdelrahman Al-Qawasmi, the supervisor of Academic Accreditation Unit explained the theoretical framework including the major criteria of ABET and the role of faculty member in conforming each one. Moreover, the workshop covered a practical part including dealing with the templates of self-learning programs, which the Scientific Departments in cooperation with the Deanship are working on peppering them to obtain ABET Accreditation. At the end, the faculty members answered all inquiries followed by a closing statement for the Dean of Quality and Skills Development on the teamwork as a crucial necessity in the developing process of engineering education
