A Workshop entitled “Preparation of the College to apply for the Academic Accreditation from NCAAA”

Under the patronage of the Vice-Dean for Quality and Development, Dr. Abdullah Al-Muheisen and in collaboration with the Vice-Dean’s Office for Quality and Development and the Training Unit, a specialized workshop was held at the College of Engineering on the preparations of the college to seek the academic accreditation of the National Commission of Assessment and Academic Accreditation. Attended by faculty members, this is one of a series of workshops and academic lectures presented by the college to ensure the readiness of the college, including all staff and faculty members, to receive the academic accreditation committees. Two of the college’s programs: electrical engineering and civil engineering were nominated to seek the national accreditation this year. Dr. Abdelrahman Al-Qawasmi, supervisor of academic accreditation unit, pointed out that it is vital for all to work as one team and to engage seriously in quality works, bearing in mind that everyone should be aware of the requirements and practices of academic quality as well as how to document them. Introducing participants to the requirements of academic accreditation, Dr. Al-Qawasmi highlighted the basic steps and the role of faculty members to meet these requirements. The Vice-Dean, Dr. Al-Muheisen said that all scientific departments have fulfilled the academic accreditation requirements and self-report which have been forwarded to the Deanship of Quality and Skills Development to follow-up the remaining procedures of accreditation. Highlighting the importance of such specialized workshops, particularly for faculty members, Dr. Al-Muheisen said further workshop should also be conducted to ensure the readiness of the college for the academic accreditation. Faculty members commended the importance of workshops for the development of their skills in academic accreditation and quality.
