The College of Science, represented by the Volunteering and Community Service Unit in collaboration with the Department of Physics, organized a course titled From Bit to Qubit: A Gateway to Quantum Computing.

The course, presented by Dr. Elham Al-Dhafiri via Irtiqa platform. explored the scientific and technological transition from classical computing to quantum computing. It began with an introduction to quantum mechanics, highlighting key concepts such as superposition and quantum entanglement.

The course also addressed the technical aspects of quantum computers, including the concept of the qubit and the challenges of maintaining quantum information stability, such as decoherence. It also discussed how maximum quantum entanglement can be achieved through Bell States.

Participants were introduced to revolutionary algorithms such as Shor’s and Grover’s algorithms, along with their applications in cryptography, artificial intelligence, and molecular simulation for drug discovery.

The course concluded with a practical session using the Qiskit library to simulate quantum computing programmatically.
