20250804812The College of Science, represented by the Volunteering and Community Service Unit in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, organized a workshop titled Environmental Chemistry and Sustainability.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Amani Hassan, explored the close relationship between chemical processes and key environmental components such as air, water, and soil, highlighting how these elements are affected by both human activities, including industrial processes and emissions and natural environmental changes.
The workshop also addressed major environmental challenges such as air and water pollution, emphasizing the role of chemistry in analyzing these issues and developing effective treatment and purification solutions. It introduced key concepts of sustainable development and their importance in balancing economic growth with environmental protection, with a focus on practical approaches such as recycling, waste reduction, and the efficient use of resources.
The workshop aimed to equip participants with a scientific understanding of environmental challenges and the application of appropriate chemical solutions, while strengthening environmental awareness and encouraging active contributions toward environmental protection and sustainability.
