The Volunteerism and Community Service Unit, in collaboration with the Laboratory and IT Unit, organized a training course titled “Approved Guide for General Safety in College Laboratories.” The session was conducted by Ms. Badriya Al-Shaya, who focused on raising awareness among staff and students about the importance of safety in academic laboratory environments, covering all scientific departments within the college.

The training addressed key safety principles, including protection from chemical, biological, and physical hazards, as well as proper procedures in case of accidents. Participants also learned about common safety symbols used to quickly identify hazards and the required preventive measures.

The course also emphasized organization and order within the laboratories, highlighting the importance of classifying materials and equipment for easy access while reducing the risk of accidents. Cleanliness and sterilization practices were discussed, including surface cleaning, proper handling of tools, and safe disposal of chemical and biological waste, ensuring a healthy and safe working environment.

The training underscored the importance of all staff and students adhering to established procedures and consistently using appropriate personal protective equipment to maintain safety standards, protect individuals, and support the quality of scientific research and education.
