College of Applied Medical Sciences Supervisor Inaugurates the First Works of the Scientific Research Unit

In line with the modern global trend towards the "knowledge -based economy", which values human knowledge as an asset and a fundamental pillar in the production of wealth and the support of international economy, the college supervisor, Dr. Fahd Bin Khalid Al Zafiri, launched the activities of the Scientific Research Unit at the College with a lecture entitled "Innovation … Invention ... Creativity: the Knowledge-based Economy in Scientific Research". The lecture was delivered by the advisor of the College supervisor Prof. Mohammed bin Hamoud Al Tariqi, where he addressed the importance of the confluence between the “invention , innovation and creativity” cycle with the “knowledge-based economy” as a one complementary cycle. The complementarity is based on the study of both the needs of society and the development of modern economic concepts linked to the achievement of sustainable development. This goal requires the development of effective plans to create an advanced technological infrastructure, and the creation of an appropriate environment for invention and innovation. Besides it requires the incorporation of modern knowledge -based economy concepts in academic courses and linking them to the needs and requirements of the labor market as well as supporting all forms of scientific research in order to reach the desired level of excellence in our educational institutions. Discussion was then opened between Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Dakhil, the College Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and the faculty members about the funding of distinguished researches published in high impact factor international journals. Dr. Al Zafiri promised at the end of the discussion to fund and encourage research projects that benefit the University and the community in both the scientific and medical fields. At the end of the meeting, Dr. Al Zafiri expressed his thanks and appreciation to Prof. Al Tariqi for his wonderful lecture which opened up new horizons on the value and importance of scientific research in the development of society and in supporting the national economy. The college supervisor also expressed his thanks to the College vice-deans and the attending faculty members, wishing everyone success in serving the University and the nation.
