Nursing Program

 

Introduction

 

The nursing program is set out to graduate general Nurses with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The program consists of (127) credit hours. The Nursing courses represent            (93 credits) of the total program credits. The remaining courses are university, scientific, humanistic, and social sciences.

 

Program Outcome

 

Consistent with the philosophy and Mission Statements of Al Majma'ah University, students who will graduate from the Department of Nursing at College of Applied Medical Sciences (CAMS) are expected to possess the following outcome competencies:

 

ü  Utilize critical thinking and wise decision making skills and abilities.

 

ü  Apply the nursing process to provide bio-psycho-social, and spiritual nursing care to individuals, families, and communities in a variety of health care settings.

 

ü  Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other health team members.

 

ü  Demonstrate proper leadership and managerial competencies in the practice of nursing.

 

ü  Utilize research findings to improve professional standards of nursing practice and care.

 

ü  Demonstrate the ability of life-long and active self-learning and professional development.

 

ü  Demonstrate competency in providing health education for all individuals in a variety of health care settings.

 

ü  Assume responsibility for maintaining awareness of ethical and legal issues that are relevant to nursing practice within a multi -cultural society.

College of applied Medical Sciences Courses Requirements for Nursing

 

Successful completion of the (CAMS), Program for Nursing at Majma'ah Campus is a prerequisite for entry into the Nursing Department. These courses aim to equip students with abilities to communicate in English effectively, to deal with technology, and to prepare them for advanced science and allied health courses.

 

During this Courses, students study basic science courses such as General chemistry, biology, and biostatistics. In addition, they undertake intensive English language courses (9 credit hours), IT Skills course (3 credit hours), and STAT 106 Biostatistics Course.

Internship

 

Internship is a 12 months comprehensive clinical training program for recent graduates to prepare them for high-quality service in the Nursing profession. The graduate shall have completed all academic requirements to qualify for internship program.

 

The intern will rotate under supervision through clinical areas within the respective department in the hospital. The intern is awarded the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) after successful completion of all clinical rotations, competencies and objectives.
