4.3.3 Majmaah University’s Public Executive Education and Training Programs

Majmaah University actively hosts a variety of events and educational programs that are open to the general public, including short executive education courses and vocational training initiatives. These offerings occur both as ad hoc one-off events and as programmed ongoing programs, underscoring the university’s commitment to community engagement and lifelong learning mu.edu.sa mu.edu.sa.

Free programs for local community and university students


The Institute of Studies and Consulting Services at MU is pleased to announce that free programs are offered to the local community and university students, both face-to-face and online.

The programs aim to raise community awareness and equip students with the necessary skill for the labor market. The programs feature three tracks: economic track, social track, and psychological and self-support track.

Ad Hoc Workshops, Lectures, and Seminars Open to the Public

  • Training Workshops and Short Courses:

The university frequently organizes professional workshops and short courses for the community. For example, in 2023 Majmaah’s Institute of Studies and Consulting Services offered 87 free training courses for the local community (in tracks such as social, economic, and personal development), which attracted over 8,000 participants mu.edu.sa. These one-off courses are often held face-to-face or online and address practical skills and knowledge for the public.

  • Guest Lectures and Awareness Seminars:

Majmaah University invites distinguished experts and leaders to deliver public lectures that anyone can attend. One notable instance was a campus visit by the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, who gave a lecture at the university attended by “a large number of people” on the role of Saudi Arabia in fighting terrorism mu.edu.sa. Similarly, the University’s centers host educational seminars to raise community awareness on various topics; for example, the Archives and Records Center organized a seminar highlighting the importance of preserving institutional and community memory as part of its ongoing efforts to educate the public mu.edu.sa. These ad hoc lectures and seminars, often led by guest speakers, help inform and engage the broader community.

SECRETARY- GENERAL OF MUSLIM WORLD LEAGUE GUEST AT MAJMAAH UNIVERSITY

Majmaah University hosted the Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Dr. Abdullah Al-Turki. Dr. Khalid Al-Muqrin the University Rector, university deputies, deans of colleges and a number of faculty members and students attended the visit, which started with a tour of university facilities such as the Medical Service Coach that provides medical services to villages and towns and the Training Coach, which offers training to government and private institutions. After the tour, Dr. Turki gave a lecture - attended by a large number of people at the University- entitled: (the Role of the Kingdom in Fighting Terrorism). He touched upon the danger of terrorism and its causes as well as the Kingdom's efforts in the fight against it at the Regional and global levels. He has also pointed out the importance of educating young people and citizens and raising their awareness of their significant roles towards maintaining security and stability along with understanding the specificity of the Kingdom and its firm unity since its foundation by King Abdel Aziz until the reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud and his Crown Prince and deputy-crown prince (God Bless Them all). Furthermore, he explained that the teachings of Islam are against all forms of terrorism, and that the goal of linking terrorism with Islam is tarnishing its clean image. He noted that the World Muslim League has been fighting terrorism all around the globe through its programs and plans. He added that the University plays an essential role in deepening these concepts on the Academic and community levels in order to immunize young people against deviation and illusion through awareness programs and events. Concluding his lecture, Sheikh Turki praised the efforts of the University in various areas, admired its uniqueness and welcomed the cooperation between the Association of the Muslim World League and the University in several joint programs in an attempt to spread awareness among the Saudi youth of the true righteousness of Islam and the danger of terror. At the end of the lecture, Dr. Muqrin, the University Rector handed Dr. Turki a memorable shield on this occasion. Then lunch was served.

 


The Archives and Records Center organizes a seminar on the Importance of Preserving Institutional and Community Memory

The Archives and Records Center organized an educational seminar highlighting the importance of documentation and its vital role in preserving institutional and community memory. This seminar is part of ongoing efforts to raise community awareness about the value of archives and records.

 

The seminar focused on the key role documents play in recording the progress of institutions by preserving decisions, procedures, and achievements that support decision-making, ensure continuity, and improve efficiency. It also emphasized how archives help protect cultural and social identity by serving as a living record that documents societal developments and preserves heritage for future generations.

The seminar discussed the need to adopt effective policies for managing archives and records, as this directly enhances transparency, institutional development, and the preservation of community memory. It stressed that documents are not just papers kept in storage but reflect the history of both institutions and society.

  • Development Seminars and Forums:

The university also holds development-oriented sessions and forums open to participants from outside the student body. This includes personal development seminars, career development talks, and collaborative forums. For instance, Majmaah University’s Vice-Rector’s office has hosted an international conference on “Universities and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030,” providing a global forum for academics, practitioners, and interested public attendees to exchange knowledge on sustainability mu.edu.sa. This conference represents a global call to unite the efforts and intellectual and academic minds and those interested in the Global Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030, who share a clear vision and a directed commitment aimed at promoting sustainable development worldwide, as the conference seeks to emphasize the importance of the responsibility entrusted to universities in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (SDGs), in line with the successive development towards knowledge, understanding and practical application of these goals. This prominent event is a fertile forum for reflection and exchange of experiences, and contributes to expanding the horizon of knowledge, deepening understanding, and encouraging innovation and development in the fields of sustainability, as we aspire through it to launch the spirit of cooperation and dialogue between scientists, thinkers and innovators in order to achieve tangible and sustainable progress in this vital field, and we look forward - during its period - to a dialogue environment that contributes to creating an opportunity to review and discuss achievements, challenges and future opportunities related to the role of universities in achieving the sustainable development goals 2030.

Conference Venue:

Majmaah University is one of the public universities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Riyadh region, and the university serves a geographical scope that includes the northern governorates of the Riyadh region. The university provides education at the undergraduate, postgraduate and applied studies levels, where more than 20,000 students study in the disciplines of medicine, allied medicine, dentistry, engineering, science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, law and business administration, arts and education, and universities also receive international students from different countries of the world, and there are specialized research centers and laboratories in health, engineering, science, and humanities, and there is a center specialized in rehabilitation techniques for the manufacture and installation of prostheses.

Main objectives of the conference

The core objectives of this conference are to enable in-depth dialogue on sustainable development and achieve its goals, and we seek to highlight the vital role played by universities in this context, with a focus on building strategic partnerships to promote sustainability initiatives and practices, and the conference also works to integrate the diversity of visions and solutions, to ensure a deeper and multidimensional understanding of sustainable development issues, by creating an environment to emphasize the role of universities in accelerating work to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals 2030. Through this intellectual, scientific and professional forum, we hope to contribute to the exchange of knowledge, promote innovative thinking, and build the optimal capabilities of universities and individuals to achieve the goals of sustainability 2030, and summarize the main objectives of the conference as follows:

- Seek to shed light on the key and multifaceted role of universities in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, while reviewing their achievements and the challenges they have faced.

- Provide a platform for the exchange and discussion of innovative strategies and approaches to enhance the effectiveness of universities in achieving these goals.

- Create an appropriate environment that stimulates substantive discussions, mutual learning and enhance cooperation among participants.

- Focus on strengthening the capabilities and determination of universities and individuals in pursuit of sustainability.

- Emphasizing joint efforts and renewed cooperation that can contribute to achieving tangible progress in the field of sustainable development, ensuring a more just and sustainable future for all.

Conference Themes

The international conference "Universities and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030: Targets and Practices" revolves around four carefully selected themes, each designed to stimulate insightful discussions and meaningful contributions.

The first axis: development and sustainability: goals, concepts, and impacts.

It discusses the philosophy of development, sustainability and sustainable development, and concepts associated with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and aims to deepen our understanding of these critical concepts in a global context.

Second Theme: Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and the Kingdom's Vision 2030

It presents topics that discuss the relationship between the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 by mentioning aspects of the link between the development goals and the vision, as well as the Kingdom's efforts in achieving the sustainable development goals.

Third Theme: The Role of Universities in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals 2030: Current Reality

It describes the reality of the efforts made by universities through their functions to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, and the obstacles that universities face in order to play the role required of them in this field.

Fourth Theme: Activating the role of universities in accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030

 

 

  • Research Forums and Poster Sessions:

Academic forums at Majmaah often welcome community and industry attendees to showcase and discuss research. A clear example is the “Distinguished Student Projects Forum” inaugurated by the University President, where students’ research projects were exhibited and honored mu.edu.sa mu.edu.sa. This event featured an exhibition of research projects (analogous to a poster session) and was part of a series aimed at enriching the academic environment and building bridges of scientific communication. By opening these forums and exhibitions to a wider audience, the university fosters an environment of shared learning and public engagement with research.


Programmed Executive Education and Vocational Training Programs

  • Continuing Education Programs:

Majmaah University offers structured executive education programs and continuing education courses that run on a regular schedule.   • Vocational Training and Diploma Programs:

Majmaah University is directly involved in vocational education by running accredited diploma programs and practical training centers open to the public. The university’s continuing education center offers over 40 diploma programs in various disciplines – for example, Human Resources, Telecommunications, Office Management, Cybersecurity, and more – all approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and culminating in a certificate from the university mu.edu.sa. These diploma courses typically span one to two years and are open to individuals outside the traditional student population (including working professionals and high school graduates seeking practical qualifications).
