The Vice-Dean's Office for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, represented by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit and in collaboration with the Department of Computer Sciences and Information, organized a workshop titled "Fostering Innovation Through Artificial Intelligence."
The workshop was presented by Ms. Hajar Al-Mujahed and held on the World Creativity and Innovation Day on April 21st.
The workshop introduced the concept of innovation and explained artificial intelligence (AI) which is the ability of machines to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as learning, understanding, and reasoning. AI includes technologies like machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning, all of which enable systems to enhance their performance automatically through experience.
The workshop highlighted how AI serves as a powerful driver of innovation across various fields. It contributes by improving efficiency, inspiring new product development, and opening new markets. The workshop aimed to simplify the understanding of AI and its diverse technologies in a concise manner while providing a solid background on key terms commonly used today in the field of AI and its applications.
The workshop also suggested important tips to use AI technologies, such as crafting transformation strategies, building capabilities and skills, and establishing specialized centers of excellence. It also touched on the major challenges and risks associated with AI applications, highlighted future predictions for the technology, and answered common questions related to artificial intelligence.
