A seminar by the Department of Computer Sciences and Information entitled "BIG DATA"

The Scientific Research Committee at the Department of Computer Sciences and Information held a seminar entitled: “BIG DATA”. The seminar was presented by the student Muhammad Al-Farhoud, who described big data as an important stage in the development of information and communication systems, defining it as an enormous amount of complex data whose size can't be stored in computer software which led to the development of advanced alternative solutions.

Big data was also explained by the presenter as the combination of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data collected by organizations that can be extracted to obtain information and used in machine learning projects, predictive modeling, and other advanced analytics applications.

Some examples of big data systems are transaction processing systems, customer databases, documents, emails, medical records, website records, mobile applications, and social networks. It also includes data generated by computer networks, such as network and server log files, and data from sensors on manufacturing machinery, industrial equipment, and Internet of Things devices.
