In the presence of Dr. Fayez Al-Fayez, Head of Computer Science and Information Department, the fifth seminar, for the Academic Year 1442-1443 AH, was held virtually using the blackboard system.
Presented by Dr. Aymen Jaradat, the title of the seminar is “Multiple user's replica selection in data grids for fair user satisfaction: A hybrid approach”.
The seminar addressed how to optimally select the location of a replica on data networks according to the quality of service criteria preferred by the user, and given the limited number of data sources available in comparison with the large number of users.
To overcome this problem, a hybrid approach of genetic algorithm and other algorithm was used. Results proved that the proposed hybrid approach significantly outperforms the previously used and known methods.
A Q&A session was conducted for faculty members which was very informative.
