The Student Affairs Department at the College of Science in Zulfi organized a meeting for new students with the Vice-Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Sair bin Obaid Al Harbi, Dr. Yousri Azzam, Director of the Academic Advising Unit, Mr. Abdul-Aziz Al Qashmi and Director of the Student Activity Unit.
The Vice Dean encouraged students to study hard and spend their time wisely in order to achieve their potential. He also encouraged them to seek the advice of faculty members in the college.
This was followed by a speech by the Director of the Academic Advising Unit, in which he explained the Unit’s role, student rights and the interest of the College and the University in that regard to help students overcome the difficulties and obstacles that may affect their education. Moreover students are prepared for university life through advising programs. Students were introduced to the Units and the various programs that can help them choose majors that match their abilities and labor market needs. under-achievement students were also targeted for development in these introductory programs.
After that, the Vice-Dean has also encouraged students to participate in student activities and often seek the advice of their academic advisers. He explained to them that the details of academic advisers are updated on the academic portal. A WhatsApp group for each section was established for interaction and being updated of the academic advising.
Then the Student Support Unit manager gave a speech to the students explaining that the unit is ready to support them with course selection and overcoming their academic problems.
The new students were finally taken on a tour to the College and the library by the Vice-Dean.
