Academic Advising Week Activities Launched at College of Science in Zulfi

In coordination with the Public Relations Unit, the Counseling and Student Rights Unit launched the Academic Advising Week in the College of Science in Zulfi during a reception ceremony for the students. The ceremony was attended by a large number of students and was honored by the presence of His Excellency the Dean, Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Aboudi; His Excellency the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Ziad Hussein; His Excellency the Vice Dean for Educational Affairs, Dr. Wael Al-Tariki; and His Excellency the Director of Counseling and Student Rights Unit, Dr. Yosri Ahmed Azzam; as well as the departments coordinators of the unit. A speech was delivered by His Excellency the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, in which he welcomed the new students and talked about the eagerness of the Deanship to guide them through and provide the full academic counseling for them. Then, His Excellency the Director of Counseling and Student Rights Unit gave a speech, welcoming the students and clarifying that the College’s interest in the academic advising was represented in establishing a specialized unit for it. He then urged the students to interact and visit their academic advisors during the office hours and explained that the information about the academic advisors was updated on the academic system portal. He also stated that the Counseling and Student Rights Unit was about to complete a system containing accounts for all students with their grades provided on them. He added that teaching staff members and academic advisors would also be having their own accounts through which they would be able to monitor grades and absences and send short text messages to the students. Besides, a WhatsApp contact number for the academic counseling was also created through which students would be able to send complaints and observations to the Counseling Unit. After that, the Dean delivered a speech to the students, urging them to make effort in order to improve their academic and professional levels, gain more knowledge from their teachers and be protected with it. He also urged them to participate in student activities provided by the Unit of Student Activities in the College. Then, he answered all the students’ questions and inquiries, mostly concentrating on the summer class; His Excellency clarified that the small number of graduates in the college was the main reason for not having a summer class in addition to the benefit and experience that a student would gain when they have their summer classes in other universities. At the end of the ceremony, His Excellency expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Rector for the efforts he made for the University members including the students, teaching staff and employees. After that, the new students were taken on a tour to the laboratories and various halls of the College.
