The Zulfi College of Education celebrates the International Day of People with Special Needs and the International Day of the Children’s Rights. Based on the university role in serving the society, and in support of the disabled people and children, the Zulfi College of Education had organized events for the International Day of People with Special Needs and the International Children’s Rights Day for two successive days. During the first day, the Dean Dr. Abdullah bin Khalifa Suwaiket inaugurated the associated fair which included several educative and awareness corners prepared by the students from the Special Education and kindergarten sections, such as corners for raising awareness about people with hearing and mental disabilities or autism, the story corner, the child handicraft skills corner and the kinetic activities corner. The fair also included several booklets, brochures and documentaries, about this year’s theme, which is facilitating the use of electronic means and the information technology and communication tools to help people with disabilities in all life domains. The fair contained representations and brochures to raise awareness about children’s rights and protect them from violence and abuse. The second day’s events started with a recitation of verses from the Quran by one of the kindergarten sections’ student in the presence of Her Excellency the college vice dean for the Female Students Affairs Mrs. Mona Al-Fawzan, Her Excellency the assistant of the Zulfi Education Director; Mrs. Nora Farhood and the Public Relations manager in the female sections Mrs. Mariam Nasser; followed by a welcoming speech delivered by the coordinator of Special Education and kindergarten sections in which she welcomed the audience and thanked all the students participating in the fair and in the plays and the short stories shows that were supervised by dr. Salwa Hamada, dr. Iman Hamdi, dr. Amina Osman, dr.Jihen Farid, dr. Ghada Auf, and dr. Amira Shani. Then Ms. Hanan Saqr, the supervisor of the kindergarten female sections, delivered a lecture entitled "Studying the Three Stages" for kindergarten sections’ students, while dr. Mona lectured on "The Role of The New Media System in Educating the Disabled". Afterwards, Students from the kindergarten sections performed a play entitled “Happy Jungle” and a kinetic story entitled “The Young Duck”. The events ended with a documentary film presented by one of the students of the Special Education sections entitled “The Cry of a Deaf”.
