The initial meeting was held between the Astronomical Observatory at the Vice-Rector's Office for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research with representatives from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Daawa and Guidance, to govern the ongoing work of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

The meeting discussed the possibility of establishing a partnership between the two sides on a number of important topics, including determining Qibla for mosques, calculating prayer times, and organizing training courses on prayer times and prohibition times.

Means of cooperation about astronomical phenomena observed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were also discussed. An agreement was reached to sign a memorandum of understanding.
