Dr. Khaled El Sayed El Helou Date: 21/07/1438 Place. Hall 53 Target Group: Faculty Members + Female Students Objectives 1- The definition of ant colony algorithm; The ant colony optimization algorithm (ACO). 2- Determining the scope of their uses. Dr. Khaled from the Department of Mathematics at the College of Science at Majmaah University presented this scientific symposium within the activities of the first cultural week of the Department of Mathematic. He began with clarifying the concept of algorithm and it was originated from simulating the process of searching for food in ants. Ants secrete the pheromone back and forth during their search for food, and the second time they choose the routes that have more pheromone because they are shorter. The pheromone is updated regularly, and since the ants are estimated to be millions of years old, the pheromone does not fade from the earth. Hence came the idea of the algorithm that it can be applied to many mathematical issues so that it can be adjusted according to the requirements of the issue at hand. New research using this algorithm still yields better results than genetic algorithms.
