A course of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was conducted for medical students by the Deanship of Student Affairs in collaboration with the College of Applied Medical Science.
The course, accredited by Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS), focuses on explaining to students that CPR is an emergency procedure with double task, that is if a person still has a pulse but not breathing, artificial ventilation may be appropriate. However, during cases of cardiac arrest, chest compression is recommended until the person has a return of spontaneous blood circulation.
Dr. Khalid Al-Ofaisan, Dean of Student Affairs, said that the course highlighted the significance of first aid to save lives of adults, children and infants during emergency cases.
There is a strong tendency to conduct this course every year for medical students as it is one of the SCHS’s requirements.
Dr. Al-Ofaisan extended his thanks to both the Student Activities Department and the Student Fund Department for their support to hold such activities.
