Publishing Guidelines

Editorial Decisions

Recommendations made by Associate Editors, Editorial Board members, and reviewers regarding manuscripts under consideration are advisory to the Editor-in-Chief. The final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief.

Manuscripts are considered works in progress, and each revised submission is treated as a new version that may generate additional comments and recommendations. Authors should therefore expect to undertake one or more rounds of revision before final acceptance.

Submitted manuscripts constitute confidential communications between the authors, the Journal, and the reviewers. Reviewers may consult other experts when necessary to improve the quality of the review. No changes other than the correction of factual or typographical errors are permitted at the proof stage. The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to decline publication if substantial changes are requested after the manuscript has been accepted.

The Editor-in-Chief may request additional reviews when deemed necessary.

Authorship

The Majmaah Journal of Health Sciences adheres to the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Authorship credit should be based on all of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception and design of the study, data acquisition, or interpretation of the findings.
  2. Drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
  3. Final approval of the version to be published.

All submissions are expected to comply with these requirements. Any changes to the list of authors after submission must be accompanied by a written explanation and the consent of all authors.

Submission Policy

The Journal considers manuscripts on the strict condition that they are original works that have not been previously published and are not under consideration by another journal.

The Majmaah Journal of Health Sciences does not accept manuscripts that have been published previously in any form, including preprint servers or other publicly accessible repositories.

The Journal follows the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Peer Review

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by experts in the relevant field. Based on reviewers’ comments and editorial assessment, manuscripts may be accepted, accepted subject to revision, or rejected.

Ethics and Informed Consent

Authors must not disclose patients' names, initials, hospital numbers, or any identifying information in text, tables, or illustrations unless such information is essential for scientific purposes and written informed consent has been obtained from the patient or legal guardian.

Where applicable, the manuscript should comply with the ethical principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and must include approval from the appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board.

Studies involving animals should state that all procedures complied with applicable institutional and international guidelines for animal care and use.

Copyright and Permissions

As a condition of publication, authors are required to transfer copyright or grant publication rights to the Journal. This enables the Journal to ensure copyright protection and to maximize dissemination of published work.

Authors may subsequently use their published material elsewhere, provided that proper acknowledgment is given to the Majmaah Journal of Health Sciences as the original source of publication.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources.

Declaration of Interest

The Journal adheres to the conflict-of-interest policies recommended by the ICMJE. All authors must disclose any financial, professional, or personal relationships that may influence their work.

Sources of funding must be clearly stated. If no conflicts of interest exist, authors should explicitly declare that no competing interests are present. A declaration of interest statement is required at the time of submission and will be published with the article.
