MU SIGNS SPECIALIZED DOCUMENT RETENTION SCHEDULE WITH THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR ARCHIVES AND RECORDS

As part of its ongoing efforts to develop a comprehensive and integrated records management system, The Center for Archives and Records at MU has officially signed the Specialized Document Retention Schedule with the National Center for Archives and Records (NCAR). This agreement reinforces the university’s commitment to preserving its administrative and historical memory in accordance with national regulations and standards.

The signing was conducted by Mr. Abdulkarim Al-Turki, the Director of the Center at MU, after fulfilling all regulatory requirements. The schedule was developed after a thorough review of the specialized documents produced by various university departments and units to ensure its comprehensiveness and alignment with NCAR's guidelines.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Shehri, Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, pointed out that this step reflects the university’s dedication to organizing its administrative, financial, and specialized documents. He noted that proper document management supports data protection, facilitates access to information, and enhances decision-making processes. He also commended the center’s proactive role in technical preparation, coordination, and follow-up with NCAR leading to the approval of the schedule.

It is worth noting that signing this retention schedule marks a significant milestone in the university’s journey to build a robust records management system and further strengthens its capacity to manage information and knowledge according to best practices and national procedures.
