1- Recommendation to appoint staff members in the university.
2- Deciding on scientific promotions for the staff members in the university in accordance to the rules approved by the council of higher education.
3- Encouraging scientific research, authorship, translation and publication including the following:
* Laying bases for encouraging the scientific researches
* Determining discretionary and encouraging awards for scientific works and their judgment and ordering their disbursement.
* Publishing researches, books and scientific theses that they think worth publishing.
* Recommending issuance of scientific periodicals.
* Recommending establishment of scientific societies and museums and coordination between them.
* Approving the submitted textbooks and university theses that in need of review.
4- Assessing the scientific certificates submitting by the Saudis staff.
5- Considering what submitted to them by the University's Senate.
