The Deanship of Development and Quality conducted a workshop titled “Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Quality Assurance Processes” as part of the Academic Quality Expert Program. The workshop was presented by Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Qafary, Vice Dean for Quality Assurance at the Deanship of Development and Quality and General Supervisor of the Office of the Vice Rector for Educational Affairs.
The workshop aimed to empower academic practitioners to effectively leverage artificial intelligence technologies to enhance quality assurance processes, support continuous improvement, and build data-driven feedback loops to strengthen evidence-based decision-making in higher education institutions.
The workshop addressed digital transformation in university education and highlighted the role of AI in shifting quality assurance from traditional compliance and auditing models toward more effective approaches based on intelligent analysis and predictive insights. It also explored practical applications of AI in data analysis, academic program alignment, and the design of assessment tools linked to learning outcomes.
It also emphasized the importance of the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence, underscoring that AI serves as a decision-support tool rather than a substitute for academic judgment. The discussion highlighted human oversight and institutional governance across all quality-related applications are necessary.
