MU RECTOR PATRONIZES FINALS OF FIRST STAGE FOR COMPETITION OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (IEC) at the Vice-Rector's Office for Student Affairs held the final qualification of innovation challenge for sustainable development under the patronage of MU rector, Prof. Al-Mizil and in the presence of vice-rectors. 

The aim of the challenge is to help students develop business mindsets and find innovative solutions to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Collaborating with the UNDP Saudi office, the Ministry of Education and the Babson Global Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman College of Business and Entrepreneurship launched the University Innovation Challenge for students to support sustainable innovation practices and address global sustainability challenges.

The first stage was launched on November 14th, 2021 during which top performers are selected for the the national final round. The final national round involves a three-day boot camp at Prince Mohammed Bin Salman College (MBSC). 

A ceremony was held by MU to celebrate the first stage of the competition which began by a welcoming speech by the vice-rector, Dr. Jawaher Al-Omar, who highlighted the goals of the competition, thanking MU rector for support and encouragement.  

Dr. Abdullah Bajahzar, the director of IEC, gave a presentation about the first stage of the competition which featured several phases and forming teams as well as the workshops and training sessions. 

The IEC received more than 20 ideas for projects from different colleges, and only 14 were selected after being rigorously revised by a panel of judges. Eight projects were selected to participate in the finals. 

Students who represented the university in competitions and achieved advanced rankings were awarded by MU rector along with faculty members who acted as a panel judges.
