CBA signs MoU with Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration

Within the framework of the cooperation between the Department of Law at the College of Business Administration with the justice sectors in Saudi Arabia, a memorandum of understanding was signed by the College of Business Administration (CBA) with the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA).
The MoU, signed by the Dean of CBA, Dr. Waleed Al-Bisher, aims to enhance the smart partnership between the college and the center in a way that benefits both sides as well as achieving a number of goals, most importantly the support of institutional arbitration in Saudi Arabia and qualifying law students in the field of arbitration by engaging them in activities run by the Center, an act that will ensure that the sector of arbitration is run by Saudis in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
By signing the MoU, coordination and cooperation will take place between the two sides strategically and executively. That cooperation has different forms including the support of scientific research in the field of arbitration, seminars and forums, attending events held by both sides and through qualifying students and faculty members in the field of arbitration.
The head of law department, Dr. Abdelrahman Abdelkareem, said that one of the benefits of this MoU is the participation of a group of the department students in the first commercial arbitration competition organized by the SCCA in Arabic language which aimed at developing the capacity of law students (in all levels) to absorb and understand the latest developments in the field of international commercial law and train them to deal with arbitration as one of the most famous means of settling commercial disputes worldwide.
That will not only create opportunities for recruiting outstanding Saudis but will also help in enabling MU excellent students to compete locally and internationally.

Dr. Al-Bisher commended the vital role of the SCCA, particularly the signed memorandum which will establish a real partnership between both sides where the law department students are trained and familiarized with the best practices in international arbitration as well as the rules and procedures in arbitration field.
