By participation of several governmental, private and charity institutions, the Rector opened the smoking prevention and drug dangers awareness exhibition under the name of "My Life is beautiful without poisons"

By participation of several governmental, private and charity institutions, H.E. Rector Dr. Khaled bin Saad Al Moqren inaugurates this morning, Sunday, the exhibition of smoking prevention and drug dangers awareness under the slogan “My Life is beautiful without poisons”. The exhibition is organized by the Student Affairs Deanship at the main hall of the University City in Majmaah. The ceremony started with verses of the Holy Quran followed by a speech from Dean of Student Affairs of the University, Dr. Faisal Bin Abdullah Al-Homoud, who welcomed the attendees and gave thanks to the Rector, Dr. Khaled Bin Saad Al-Moqren for his presence and continues follow-up of the Deanship activities. He said that this exhibition is part of the Deanship activities plan for the current academic year and contribute to the achievement of one of the most important objectives of the university to provide various awareness and cultural services to the community. The activities come also in implementation of the directives Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammed Al-Angari to complete the executive procedures necessary to make the Saudi universities a smoking free environment as of Saturday; 01/01/1433H and his Excellency’s stress on the diversity of the Saudi universities programs on sensitization dangers of smoking on health and society. This exhibition also comes within the framework of activation of the agreement previously signed between the University and the General Directorate for Narcotics Prevention and an interpretation for this memorandum into joint projects that contribute to the awareness of these poisons with focus on the areas served by the university. Dr. Al Homoud expressed his thanks and appreciation to his colleagues in the Deanship for their effort to prepare the show, and then extended his thanks also to the views and the supporting parties, sponsors and other participating parties.

 

A visual presentation was provided about the harms of smoking and drugs in an interesting style that attracted the audience in collaboration with ID Company which produces the famous TV serials “Screws” on You Tube. Then the Rector launched the Executive Regulations for the Prevention of smoking within the university or in its external periphery. At the end of the penning ceremony, the participating and the sponsoring parties were honored.

 

After that, the Rector accompanied by the Vice Rectors, Deans of colleges & deanships and the university guests went to the exhibition where the Rector cut the ribbon announcing the opening of the exhibition, he made a tour with his companions round stands of the exhibition and the participating parties.

A number of activities were done during the first day, we mention here some of them:

  • Inauguration ceremony under suspicion of the university Rector.
  • A Lecture by Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Al Fares from General Directorate for Narcotics Prevention.
  • The exhibit witnessed large turnout of visitors, especially in the evening. It also witnessed student visits to a number of schools in the provinces of Majmaah, Zulfi and Ghat.

 

  • Nojoum Al Marah Band for Children was creative in its shows for a remarkable turnout of children and will continue to performance of its evening shows in the duration of the exhibition.
  • The exhibition will be open for visit daily from 9 am till 1 noon and from 4 pm till 7 pm for three days in the duration of the exhibition.
  • During the second day, a lecture will be provided by by Mr. Sulaiman Al Sabbi the General Secretary of the Charity Society to Combat Smoking (Purity).
  • There is a daily draw on a number of gifts and awards.

 

Dr. Ibrahim Bin Abdul Rahman Al Hugail, the Vice Rector spoke on this occasion that drugs are a scourge on the individual, the family and the community. The efforts to control and awareness of its effects are everyone's responsibility. Majmaah University hurried to sign a cooperation convention with the Directorate General for Narcotics Prevention, in view of its role in community service and awareness of the dangers of this ghost murderer who kills in the sails of the nation's youth and threatens the family and society.

The purpose of this Convention is to use all the university owned scientific potentials, research expertise and laboratory equipment owned by the University to achieve the objectives of the Convention. Among the efforts of cooperation is: the establishment of joint exhibitions to raise awareness of harmful effects of narcotics at young people gathering places, shopping malls and festivals. From this point, preparations to organize the new version of (my beautiful without poisons) exhibition which will be inaugurated by the Rector Dr. Khaled bin Saad Al-Muqren on Sunday, 16/1/1433 H, and will continue until Tuesday: 18/1/1433 AH.

 

The starting of this exhibition to raise awareness of harmful effects of narcotics and the smoking prevention is in order to make the university a clean environment free from smoking, as well as the surrounding community.

Majmaah University represented in the Deanship of Student Affairs is participating with the Directorate General of Narcotics Control in the implementation of this exhibition. There are other governmental and non-governmental organizations participating in this exhibition success, among them: Combat Smoking Society (Purity), King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, the National Center for Youth Research and the Department of Education at Majmaah, and the Department of Primary Health Care & Preventive Medicine. Some of the university colleges are participating with outstanding roles in this exhibition such as: College of Applied Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Dentistry.

Efforts were not limited to the above mentioned parties, but there are many other supporters of exhibition sponsors among them: of the, including: the Saudi (Overseas) Marketing & Trading Company (SOMATCO and Bonayyan Company.
