About Program
The Mechanical Engineering Program was established to meet the labor market's need for professional mechanical engineers and to enhance professional careers for the modernization of society, as mechanical engineering is considered a driving force for development. The Mechanical Engineering Program includes three tracks: Mechanical Power Engineering, Mechanical Design and Production Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.
The program aims to:
- Utilize the engineering knowledge and technical expertise acquired by students to practice professional roles in mechanical engineering while adhering to engineering ethics.
- Meet societal needs in their specialized fields while committing to continuous education and contributing to research and development in mechanical engineering technologies.
- Operation and maintenance engineer.
- Water desalination plants.
- Mechanical power plants.
- Industrial engineer.
- Production engineer
Mechanical design engineer. - Service Engineer.
- Quality control engineers.
- Production planning & control engineers Safety Engineer.
Applications for admission to the College of Engineering must be submitted to the Deanship of Admission and Registration, which sets the university-wide admission criteria and imposes its specific requirements. Admission to the College of Engineering follows a two-stage selection process.
In the first stage, applicants must achieve a minimum composite score of 80, calculated as follows:
Composite Score = 0.3 × [High School GPA] + 0.3 × [General Aptitude Test (GAT)] + 0.4 × [Academic Achievement Test for Scientific Majors]
The General Aptitude Test (GAT) is conducted by the National Center for Assessment.
The college may impose additional admission restrictions, such as setting a maximum number of accepted students.
Applications for the College of Engineering open once a year, not every semester, and adjustments are made in accordance with regulations and policies. The Deanship of Admission and Registration announces application dates and document submission requirements. For more details, please visit www.mu.edu.sa.
In the second stage, admission to the College of Engineering requires passing the Preparatory Year, which is specifically designed for engineering students. The required minimum Preparatory Year GPA for admission is 3.75 out of 5, along with a STEP English proficiency test score of 67.
Completion of all preparatory courses is not a mandatory condition for admission; however, students must pass English, Mathematics, and Physics courses with a minimum grade of D to qualify for enrollment in the college. Other courses, such as Study Skills and Computer Science, can be completed during the first semester at the College of Engineering. However, students must finish these courses by the end of the first semester; otherwise, their enrollment will be suspended until completion.
