About Program
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering awards graduating students a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. The program is designed to require students to successfully complete the preparatory year courses offered by the College of Engineering. These courses are distributed over two semesters, after which students begin studying the courses specific to the Civil Engineering program. The program's curriculum for the last three semesters includes courses in three different study tracks, with students choosing their preferred track upon reaching this stage. These tracks are: Structural Engineering, Water and Environmental Engineering, and Road and Surveying Engineering. In addition to the educational process, the department also contributes to serving the local community by providing engineering studies and consultations, organizing training courses for the public and private sectors, and conducting scientific and applied research related to local community problems.
The program aims to:
- First Goal: Develop critical thinking and the ability to solve engineering problems based on fundamental knowledge of civil and environmental engineering.
- Second Goal: Serve the engineering profession, the industrial sector, and universities within the local community in the Kingdom by providing promising leaders, contributing to development, and enriching society with knowledge.
- Third Goal: Provide a strong knowledge base for students who wish to pursue higher education.
- Fourth Goal: Prepare graduate students to be leaders who communicate effectively with society through the applications of civil and environmental engineering.

Applications for admission to the College of Engineering must be submitted to the Deanship of Admission and Registration, which sets the university-wide admission criteria and imposes its specific requirements. Admission to the College of Engineering follows a two-stage selection process.
In the first stage, applicants must achieve a minimum composite score of 80, calculated as follows:
Composite Score = 0.3 × [High School GPA] + 0.3 × [General Aptitude Test (GAT)] + 0.4 × [Academic Achievement Test for Scientific Majors]
The General Aptitude Test (GAT) is conducted by the National Center for Assessment.
The college may impose additional admission restrictions, such as setting a maximum number of accepted students.
Applications for the College of Engineering open once a year, not every semester, and adjustments are made in accordance with regulations and policies. The Deanship of Admission and Registration announces application dates and document submission requirements. For more details, please visit www.mu.edu.sa.
In the second stage, admission to the College of Engineering requires passing the Preparatory Year, which is specifically designed for engineering students. The required minimum Preparatory Year GPA for admission is 3.75 out of 5, along with a STEP English proficiency test score of 67.
Completion of all preparatory courses is not a mandatory condition for admission; however, students must pass English, Mathematics, and Physics courses with a minimum grade of D to qualify for enrollment in the college. Other courses, such as Study Skills and Computer Science, can be completed during the first semester at the College of Engineering. However, students must finish these courses by the end of the first semester; otherwise, their enrollment will be suspended until completion.
