The Social Responsibility Observatory, represented by the Center for Family, Childhood, and Community Health, organized a community awareness event titled "Climate Change and Community Health: From Heatwaves to Respiratory Diseases." The event aimed to raise public awareness of the health impacts of climate change and promote preventive measures.
The session was presented by Dr. Ahlam Al-Ruwaili from the College of Nursing and moderated by Dr. Doaa Al-Hazmi, Supervisor of the Center for Family and Childhood.
The event explored key topics including the concept of climate change, the health effects of heatwaves, vulnerable population groups, and the role of vaccination in preventing climate-related diseases. It also discussed the impact of climate change on air and water quality, its connection to seasonal respiratory illnesses, and practical ways individuals and communities can adapt to changing environmental conditions and protect their health.
