On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Services for Persons with Disabilities Center at the Social Responsibility Observatory launched two publications highlighting the empowerment of persons with disabilities, the support of their talents, and the enhancement of their participation in shaping the future.

The Head of the Center pointed out that the first publication, titled “Methods of Supporting Gifted Persons with Disabilities,” was prepared by Dr. Doaa Al-Hazmi. The publication addresses a range of specialized scientific themes, most notably:

  • The concept of gifted persons with disabilities

  • Key concepts related to caring for this group

  • The relationship between giftedness and disability

  • The unique characteristics of gifted persons with disabilities

  • Challenges they face and tools for their assessment

  • Methods for nurturing their talents and developing their abilities

  • The role of assistive technology and supporting institutions

  • The link between caring for gifted persons with disabilities, the Sustainable Development Goals, and Saudi Vision 2030

  • Future prospects for supporting this group

The second publication, titled “Projects and Ideas that Empower Persons with Disabilities to Innovate and Build the Future,” by Dr. Yasser Al-Shabrami, presents practical content aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among persons with disabilities. It includes:

  • An overview of the rights of persons with disabilities

  • Project ideas for individuals with physical disabilities

  • Project ideas for individuals with visual disabilities

  • Project ideas for individuals with hearing disabilities

  • Ten diverse project ideas suitable for various types of disabilities

  • An overview of supporting entities, facilitators, and available electronic services that enhance economic participation

These publications reflect the University’s commitment to empowering persons with disabilities, investing in their talents, and supporting their active contribution to sustainable development and the knowledge-based economy.
