On behalf of the minister of education, Mr. Yousef al-Benyan - Chairman of MU'S Council -, MU Rector, Prof. Saleh al-Mezal, chaired the eight meeting of the university council for the academic year 1446 in the presence of the Secretary General of the Council of Universities Affairs, Dr. Bassam Al-Bassam, vice-rectors and deans of colleges and deanships.
MU Rector welcomed the council members and commended the university’s outstanding achievements at the 50th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions which included winning the Grand Prize as well as gold, silver, and bronze medals. He also praised the university’s remarkable improvement in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings. The Rector congratulated the student Layan Al-Hammad for winning Prince Faisal bin Bandar Award for Creativity and Excellence (3rd edition, 1446 AH–2025) in the “Outstanding University Student” category. Lastly, he highlighted the success of crescent-sight for Ramadan and Shawwal which was pointed out by His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Khalid Al-Luhaidan, President of the Supreme Court, who commended the university's significant role in this important endeavor.
The General Secretary of the Council, Prof. Mohammed al-Shehri, pointed out that several topics in the agenda were addressed, including the approval of the academic calendar for the summer semester of the 1446 AH academic year, the Audit Committee’s recommendation on the university’s 2024 final accounts, and the third round of projects by the Institute of Consulting Studies and Services for 2025. A number of topics related to the administrative affairs of faculty members were also addressed.
At the end of the meeting, the rector extended his thanks to the council members for their active role in improving the quality of the university outcomes.
