A FORUM ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IN MEDIA HELD BY MU

On behalf of MU rector, Prof. Al-Mizil, the vice-rector for graduate studies and scientific rector, Prof. Al-Rumaih patronized the forum of Intellectual Property in Media which was held by MU with the participation of Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP).

Presence were the mayor of Majmaah, Eng. Fahad Al-Rumaih, the official spokesperson of SAIP, Mr. Yasser Al-Hakami, and deans of colleges and deanships.

The forum began by a recitation of the holy Quran followed by a speech delivered by Prof. Al-Rumaih, who talked about the worldwide growing interest in intellectually property to protect the property of individuals, entities, or countries.

Having an enormous interest in intellectual property, the Kingdom issued many regulations the SAIP was established, attributing this much care to the emergence of social medical. With that in mind, the university realized the demand to protect its property and inculcate this value among its staff and students.

Mr. Al-Hakami addressed intellectual property and its areas such as trademarks, copyrights, patents, plant varieties, industrial models, integrated circuit layout designs, and trade secrets.

He also talked about how intellectual property emerged in Saudi and its goals, highlighting the strategic objectives of the Authority which includes improving strategies, regulations and legislations related to intellectual property, strengthening international strategic partnerships, enhancing respect for intellectual property rights and raising the level of institutional excellence.

At the end of the forum, the vice-rector honored the spokesperson of SAIP with a memorial shield.
