University Medical Center holds an event on the International Day for Awareness of Hereditary Blood Disorders

In the presence of MU's rector, Prof. Saleh Al-Mezal, the University Medical Center held an event on the International Day for Awareness of Hereditary Blood Disorders, titled “The Genetic Blood Disorders Awareness,”. The event was held in cooperation with the Voluntary Center at the Social Responsibility Observatory.

The event highlighted hereditary blood diseases, which are a group of diseases that are transmitted from parents to children, resulted from a defect in the structure and components of red blood cells. It produces red blood cells that are unable to perform their normal functions and pathological symptoms appear in the affected person. The most important types of hereditary blood diseases are thalassemia and sickle cell anemia.

The medical staff explained in detail the symptoms, complications, and treatment of the disease.
