Given the current pandemic and suspension of classes, the Deanship of e-Learning and Distance Education (DEDE) has assumed its great responsibility in the process of activating distance learning via quick procedures, one of which is conducting a series of crash course to faculty members and students.
More than 94-hour courses, both in Arabic and English, were conducted about the essential services featured by the learning system “Blackboard”.
The Vice-Dean for Development and Quality, Dr. Mohammed Aba-Hussein, pointed out that these courses were offered based on the university’s operational plan and under the follow-up of the Vice-Rector and Supervisor of DEDE, Prof. Musallam Al-Dosari.
According to Dr. Aba-Hussein, the courses have greatly helped in raising the university’s staff awareness about e-learning. The percentage of using quiz ramped up to 93% and likewise using virtual classes 97%.
By the same token, using e-announcement also increased by 87%; uploading e-content to 88% ; and homework and assignments by 95%.
To ensure the content of these courses are imparted accurately, a group of well qualified trainers in e-learning were assigned the task of offering training courses, with additional hours for consultation, added Dr. Aba-Hussein.
