WORLD KIDNEY DAY CELEBRATED BY COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND HUMANITIES

The Community Service Unit at the College of Science and Humanities in Hawtat Sudair – female campus- organized in collaboration with the Kidney Volunteer Team and Hawtat Sudair Hospital an activity to celebrate the world kidney day.
The event aims to raise the health awareness of the importance of the kidneys and reducing the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide.
A lecture was held by Dr. Duaa Taha on the importance of having a healthy kidneys. Attended by over 150 from local community, Dr. Taha explained the primary function of kidney which is extracting waste from blood including toxins and excess salts.
The attendees were educated how to detect kidney disease early and how to reduce the potential of harming their kidneys. They were also encouraged to donate their kidney to patients to save their life.
A field visit was made to kidney patients at the hospital and an interview was conducted with one of the patients to share her experience.
