Module Title : Trauma & Emergency Radiography

Module ID : RMI 471

Pre-requisite(Co-requisite) : RMI354 + RMI355

This course focuses on students learning to perform radiographic procedures in Emerengcy x-rays department. This course is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills of basic emergency care. The course covers first aids, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and stabilization of victims with airway obstruction and prevention of disease transmission in addition to the special examinations, radiation protection, ethics and professional conducts. Subsequent hands-on experience is provided under the direct supervision of qualified technologists.

Module Title : Computed Tomography Techniques

The course explores the basic physical and technical principles of CT Scan, related clinical applications, system component image characteristics, quality control methods limitations and advantages and future development. This course is a survey of routine CT imaging procedures including head and neck, spine and musculoskeletal system. Procedure protocols include, but are not limited to, indications, contraindications, patient education and preparation, positioning, patient history and assessment, contrast media usage, scout image, selectable scan parameters, filming, archiving of the images, and evaluation of images quality.

The course explores the basic and technical principles of image processing techniques. The course will include theory and practical in the application (clinical applications, system component image characteristics, quality control methods limitations and advantages and future development) and use of image processing programs such as MatLab and IDL and it is suitable as a multi-disciplinary approach.

This subject will introduce the students to the nuclear medicine techniques by using all the Nuclear Medicine applications. This course focus on the basic principles involved in diagnostic procedures normally found in a Nuclear Medicine facility with emphasis on anatomy, physiology, pathology, radiopharmaceuticals, instrumentation, data analysis, and diagnostic value. It includes the bone, cardiovascular, brain, digestive system, endocrine/exocrine glands, genitourinary and respiratory systems, hematology, in vitro studies, and oncology and inflammation imaging.

This course provides basic information concerning ethical and legal behavior in a health care environment. Patient care principles, radiation protection measures, The student is taught to perform radiographic procedures the upper extremity, shoulder girdle, chest, and thorax, Lower extremity, Vertebral column, Skull, abdomen, Dental radiography ,Contrast media applications and drugs used in the X-Ray department. Hand-on instruction in the proper use of fixed and mobile radiographic equipment and application of theoretical principles are demonstrated in a laboratory setting. This course should consign with the theoretical background of the technical procedures, photographic theories as well, Subsequent hands-on experience is provided under the direct supervision of qualified technologists.
