Module Title : Nuclear Medicine Physics and Instrumentations

This course provides the student with the physical principle of nuclear medicine and equipment used for imaging & dose measurements. Topics covered include atomic and nuclear structure, production of radioisotopes, radioactive decay, radioactive decay law, unit of radiation measurements, and attenuation of gamma-rays, scintillation detectors, and nuclear medicine imaging systems. Quality assurance procedures will be also presented and discussed.

Module Title : Cross-Sectional Anatomy

The course is designed to give students a good knowledge on sectional anatomy, so that they would be more familiar with the various cross-sectional appearances of the human body that lends itself important in general radiographic imaging and in computerized imaging of the human body. This course is the study of human anatomy as viewed in sectional planes, including axial, sagittal and coronal planes. Gross sections, computed tomography and magnetic resonance images will be used to demonstrate anatomy of head, neck, spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and extremities.

Module Title : Computed Tomography Physics and Instrumentation

This course provides students with a detailed study of son graphic physics and instrumentation information including the principles of ultrasound and its propagation through tissues, transducers, pulse-echo imaging and instrumentation, image storage and display, Doppler, artifacts, quality assurance and bio-effects. This to enable the student to understand the application of ultrasound in medical diagnosis, The student will also be able to understand the construction, physics, characteristics, controls and operation of ultrasound equipment so as to enable the student to consistently produce high quality ultrasound images for diagnostic purposes.

This course provides the student with knowledge and skills of contrast procedures, including the following systems: gastrointestinal tract, biliary, urinary, lymphatic, and reproductive and salivary glands. Each procedure include, but are not limited to, indications, contraindications, patient education and preparation, positioning, patient history and assessment, contrast media usage, technical parameters, radiation protection and evaluation of images quality. Also pediatrics and geriatrics imaging techniques will be covered and discussed.

This course introduces the students to the hospital clinical setting and provides an opportunity to apply the skills of patient care, technical competency, radiation protection and image evaluation. Emphasis is placed on clinical exposure to competencies in radiographic procedures. Activities of the student are under direct supervision. This course provides basic information concerning ethical and legal behavior in a health care environment. patient care principles, radiation protection measures, The student is taught to perform radiographic procedures the upper extremity, shoulder girdle, chest, and thorax, Lower extremity, Vertebral column,. Hand-on instruction in the proper use of fixed and mobile radiographic equipment and application of theoretical principles are demonstrated in a laboratory setting.
