MU RECTOR CHAIRS FIRST VIRTUAL MEETING OF THE UNIVERSITY COUNCIL 1440/1441 AH

In line with the precautionary measures taken by the university against coronavirus, MU Rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Muqren chaired the fifth session of the university council for the academic year 1440/1441 AH. The meeting went virtual for the first time in the presence of the University Affairs Secretary General, Dr. Mohammed Al-Saleh, vice-rectors and deans.
In light of the exceptional circumstances that country is experiencing, MU Rector launched the session by making a reference King Salman’s speech regarding the coronavirus outbreak which reflects the concern of the authorities to provide everything that citizens and residents of the Kingdom would need during this historical stage.
In view of the collaboration of all the country’s bodies, Dr. Al-Muqren singled out the enormous efforts exerted by the Ministry of Education during this period.
The Rector also extended his thanks to the university staff for complying with the precautionary measures and performing their work remotely; faculty members for their unfailing commitment to maintain the educational process; and the students, who are the core of the entire educational process, for being diligent to excel in their academic study.
The Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and the Council Secretary General, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shayaa reviewed the meeting agenda topics, and the following decisions and recommendations were made:
Approval for establishing a testing and calibration library with its guide;
Approval for the university admission plan of the coming academic year 1442/1443 AH;
Approval for recruitment and sabbatical leave for some faculty members;
Approval for the mechanism of second semester final exams for the academic year 1441;
Approval for the estimated budget of the Deanship of Scientific Research and the Research Centers for the financial year 2020.
The colleges’ regular reports of their progress with distance learning were addressed in the meeting along the approval to establish artificial intelligence’s labs at MU.
At the end of the session, Dr. Al-Muqren thanked the Deanship of Information Technology for its efforts to ensure the success of this meeting.
