Deanship of Libraries Affairs Conducts A Training Course for Teaching Staff and Students on "How to Use the Saudi Digital Library and the Research Skills in the Digital Environment"

Based upon its vision, mission and goals, the Deanship of Libraries Affairs in co-operation with the Saudi Digital Library conducted a training program on " How to Use the Saudi Digital Library and the Research Skills in the Digital Environment" for the teaching staff and the students in the Colleges Complex in Almajma'ah for five sporadic days. The program lasted from 11 to 25 Rabea Althani 1435 corresponding 11-25 Feb 2014. The purpose of the program was to activate the electronic information resources (databases and Saudi digital library). Since these resources are essential for the teaching staff and students in enriching the teaching and scientific research processes, the Deanship continues to hold a series of specialized training courses. This training program was opened by his Excellency the Deanship vice Dean Dr. Ibrahim Abdulaziz Alkhedeiri and he stressed upon the importance of benefitting from the modern knowledge windows.      Then, Dr. Usamah Mohammad Ateyyah, the Deanship consultant, gave a presentation on the Saudi Digital Library. The presentation encompasses an introduction about the Saudi Digital Library and training on how to register, search and browse in it. He gave examples for the university staff to know the research strategies in the digital library. This introduction was repeated throughout the five days of the program in order to educate the trainees on how to register in the digital library. Also, some scenarios for the expected processes of dealing with the Saudi Digital Library were presented. The training program included an introduction about the following electronic databases ( EBSCOIEEE - Key Clinical- Mosby’s Nursing Consult & Skills - Ovid- Access Medicine- Royal Society of Chemistry- ProQuest- Springer(. It is worth noting that these databases serve all the scientific specializations in the university.  

A hundred and eight trainees attended the program. An electronic training package was given to all the trainees. The package includes the scientific material for the training day in addition to the print guides that were prepared by the Deanship in order to raise the information awareness of the university staff.
