DEAN OF LIBRARY AFFAIRS ATTENDS 19TH MEETING OF LIBRARY AFFAIRS FOR DEANS AND OFFICIALS IN GCC COUNTRIES

The Dean of Library Affairs at MU, Dr. Shadi Al-Shuwayer attended the 19th meeting of library affairs for deans and officials at universities, higher education institutions and research centers in GCC countries, hosted by UM Al-Qura University in Mecca.
The meeting was launched by the Rector of Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Abdullah Bafail in the presence of the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies, Dr. Abdelwahab Al-Raseeni and the dean of library affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al-Laheebi.
With the participation of 31 members, several topics and experiences were addressed in the meeting on the creative methods of how to access science and knowledge via e-platforms, the open sources systems and how provide open-access services based on international standards.
In addition to following-up the previous meetings’ recommendation, a number of library models were presented including Khalifa University library, the experience of deanship of library affairs at Islamic University in activating the role of central library and the features of the federated search portal of MU (mufind) which was launched recently by MU Rector.
The Dean of library affairs, Dr. Al-Shuwayer extended his thanks to MU Rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Muqren and the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shaya’a for their support and follow-up to attend such meetings.
