Vice-Rectorship’s Participation in 1st Meeting of Promoting Voluntary Works in GCC

In line with the directives of Majmaah University Rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Muqrin, regarding integration of the Universities of the GCC countries, the Vice-rector’s office participated in the first meeting of the team concerned with the preparation of a general draft that aims to enhance the culture of voluntary work within higher education institutions in the GCC countries. Dr. Faisal Al-Mutairi- General Supervisor of Vice-rector- attended the meeting representing the vice-rector’s office. Dr. Mosallam Al-Dousari stated that “based on the invitation from the General Secretary of the GCC Council, the Team responsible for preparing a general draft concerning the promotion of the culture of voluntary work in higher education institutions in the GCC countries held a meeting in the General Secretary headquarter.” In addition to the University, the team included several GCC universities. “This team has been formed due to the recommendation of the Committee of University Rectors in the GCC countries.” Dr. Dousari added. Then he pointed out “Our University participated in the meeting with a paper entitled ‘Proposed Vision of Strengthening Majmaah University Efforts in the enhancement of the Culture of Volunteerism’.” Dr. Dousari stated that the team got out of the meeting after a long discussion with some results: 1- The approval of the General Draft regarding the promotion of the culture of volunteerism in the higher education institutions in the GCC countries. The Draft included 13 articles aiming at making a road map for that purpose. 2- Approval of the proposals concerned with promoting volunteerism in the GCC countries. There were 11 proposals in this regard. 3- The endorsement of the 11 recommendations of the team members concerning the promotion of volunteerism in higher education institutions

Fourth: Present the draft for promoting the concept of voluntary work in higher education institutions at GCC to the Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research in GCC at their upcoming 18th meeting to be approved. Fifth: Present the draft for promoting the concept of voluntary work in higher education institutions at GCC to the Committee for Heads of Higher Education Institutions and University Rectors in GCC at their upcoming 22nd meeting to be studied and approved. Sixth: Establish a committee of voluntary work for staff working at the higher education institutions in GCC generated from the Committee of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research in GCC in order to draw up a time-bound plan of action and an explicit strategy for every approved recommendation. The Vice-Rector emphasized that the meeting had resulted in a recommendation to build on the experience of MU in creating and offering a course about voluntary work in all the higher education institutions and universities. He concluded by thanking MU Rector for his extended support to MU activities leading to these positive results, which maintain the University's external and internal achievements record ..
