Based on the Royal Decree No. (M / 55) on 23 Shawwal 1409 AH to establish the National Center for Archives & Records, the university attempted to activate the role of the Archives and Records Center within the terms of reference set by the university organizational structure. Specialized committees were formed to play that role such as the permanent committee for archives and records and sub-committees (archives and records preparation and archives disposing). With that in mind, MU Rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Muqren, realized the necessity of establishing a center for archives and records at the university. The primary role of the center is to manage and retain the university archives, and to ensure they are protected and confidential. The center has its own vision, mission, values, objectives and organizational structure.
