MU SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND INNOVATION AWARD CEREMONY HELD

A ceremony of The Scientific Research and Innovation Award (associated with
an exhibition) was held at Majmaah University (MU) on Sunday, 1/7/1439 at the auditorium of main campus.
MU rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Mugren and Eng. Abdulaziz Al-Hugeil, inaugurated upon their arrival the associated exhibition by a tour to the various pavilions organized by the colleges and deanships to demonstrate their achievement in research.
A presentation was given by the Deanship of Scientific Research highlighting statistically the progress of scientific research at the university over the last few years. By the same token, examples of innovative and patent works were presented by the Innovation and Student’s Outstanding Ideas Center.
The ceremony began by a recitation of the Holy Quran followed by a speech given by Prof. Mohammed Al-Shaye who said that the university’s primary aim is not only to publish research papers but to excel in the field of scientific research. The total publications of the university has leapt more than 30%. The goal desired from this award is to create a sense of competition among the faculty staff and students to support scientific research. Prof. Al-Shaye has not forgot to thank Eng. Al-Hugeil - sponsor of this award- for his belief in the significance of research in the renaissance of a nation.
A documentary film was presented afterwards highlighting the basic idea of the award as well as the major achievements the university has made in a number of areas locally and internationally.
Addressing the audience, Eng. Al-Hugeil, gave a speech saying that this award is taking place concurrently with the ever rapid national transform of the country within the kingdom vision 2030 to invest and turn the youths’ potential of power into innovative ideas that serve the nation at best.
The growing interest in encouraging innovations has motivated MU to included the pioneering research published in peer-review journals by faculty staff in this award.
Eng. Al-Hugail said that given the fact that youths are the assets of any nation and investing in their potential requires a great deal of efforts, MU has realized this fact and thus launched this award to encourage all innovators to develop their skills.
Prizes of pioneering research and innovation were given at the end of the ceremony. The sponsor of this award Eng. Al-Hugeil was also awarded with memorial shield and memorable photos were shot.
A number of workshops covering a variety of fields were conducted by experts as follow:
The first four workshops will focus on presenting examples of research projects funded in fields like humanities and administrative sciences, health science, engineering and basic science. The moderators who run these workshops are respectively: Dr. Abdullah Al-Suwaikit, Dr. Abdelaziz Al-Dekheil, Dr. Abdullah Al-Muheisen and Dr. Zeyad Al-Hussein. The last workshop which discussed the management of effective innovation was moderated by Dr. Bader Al-Mutairi.
