MU LAUNCHES INITIATIVE WITH WCSD FOR DIAGNOSING ELDERLY PEOPLE WITH DANGEROUS SYMPTOMPS IF INFECTED WITH COVID-19

The Social Responsibility Observatory at MU, in cooperation with the Women Committee for Social Development (WCSD) and hospitals located within the geographical area of the university, set out an initiative diagnosing elderly people in villages with conditions that are more likely to experience dangerous symptoms if infected with COVID-19.

The university’s mobile medical services bus travels to villages to take a blood test from elderly people, and if there is a need, they are contacted later for follow-up.

The initiative began in Um Rujum Center in cooperation with Tumayer Public Hospital. 18 persons were checked-up, and the results showed that 3 persons out of the 18 are in need of further follow-up.

This initiative is part of the partnership agreement signed between MU and WCSD to avail of the health services provided by the university’s Mobile Medical Service Bus to reach out to people in remote areas.
