Academic Counseling week in the Department of Islamic Studies

The Student Support Committee in the Department of Islamic Studies together with the Unit of Student Support and PR Unit held a one-week counseling program. The program activities were carried out from Sunday to Wednesday, and different workshops were conducted according to the following schedule: • ‘Concept, Importance, Objectives of Academic Counseling and Duties of Academic Counselor’ on Sunday presented by Dr. Jalal Al-Sedeeq • ‘Department Plan and Skills Record’ on Monday presented by the Former Head of the Department Dr. Adel Al-Turki. Another workshop on ‘Disciplinary Regulations and Valid Excuses’ was also made by Dr. Rasheed Al-Mozainy on the same day. • ‘Scientific Research Skills’ on Tuesday given by Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Hamdan followed by Dr. Adel Al-Olyan workshop on ‘Academic Regulations and Rules’. After the workshops, the academic counselors met the students who were divided into groups; each group is being with one academic counselor. • Dr. Khaled Al-Serheed ran an open meeting on Wednesday in the presence of Dr. Adel Al-Olyan, Head of Students’ Activities, and Dr. Salah Abdullatif, Head of Add and Drop Department. The Department Head opened the meeting with a speech in which he welcomed the students and urged them to be leading examples in learning Sharia and to adopt an approach that combines both basics of Islam and up-to-date changes. Another speech from Dr. Adel Al-Olyan was given to outline the activities provided by the department, then Dr. Salah Abdullatif talked about the technique of adding and dropping courses, problems encountered by the department during such procedures, and urging students to avoid them.
