Message from the Head of Department

The establishment of the Department of English Language was in response to the region’s need for qualified students to meet the growing demand of the labor market teachers, proofreaders, translators, and journalists.

The English Department seeks to achieve academic and educational excellence in teaching the English language, linguistics, and pedagogical skills to students to help them excel and pursue research in the fields of English language and literature and the ability to serve their community.

Over four years, the student completes 142 credit hours in eight semesters. The study plan includes language skills, literature, translation, and applied linguistics as well as elective courses.

The department suggested that new students should take a one-semester intensive course in the English language. Upon completing the course, only those who passed the course with the required grade will pursue their studies in the department. Students who fail to meet the requirements are either given another chance to retake the course or else transferred to other majors.

The English Language Department has a group of highly qualified faculty members, allowing them to pursue their graduate studies.
